About Dr. Siobháin McArdle
My interest in sport psychology began with my own experience at the University of Pennsylvania as a NCAA Division I middle distance athlete and as a member of the U Penn women’s rowing squad. Over the course of my career I have expanded my knowledge to include sport science, sport psychology and counselling psychology. I bring this range and depth of understanding to my work with you. Sport has many challenges and one of these is the link between body and performance. I have developed a specialism in body image and disordered eating/eating disorders in sport. I bring both my knowledge of the context of sport and disordered eating to athletes struggling in this area.

Personal
I ran as a middle distance athlete at the University of Pennsylvania, NCAA, Division 1 and was awarded a Red letter as a member of the athletics team. I also have many good memories from my time as a member of the University of Pennsylvania’s novice women’s crew team. I continue to run today as a masters athlete for Raheny Shamrocks Athletics Club and have won some medals and gongs along the way. I was born in Australia to Irish parents (An Cabhán & Tiobraid Árann) and later grew up in Canada. My home is now in Dublin where I am a mother of two young children and an aunt to a bird and a dog.
